Lisa Valencia-Svensson

Lisa Valencia-Svensson is a Toronto based documentary film producer.

Her first feature length documentary was the award-winning Herman's House. Directed by Angad Singh Bhalla, Herman's House played at True/False, Full Frame and Hot Docs in 2012, and was selected for the 2013 season of the prestigious PBS documentary series POV. The film was produced in association with the Ford Foundation JustFilms Initiative, and was supported by the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program.

She produced Resilience: Stories of Single Black Mothers (OMNI TV 2010) and associate produced several films, including The World Before Her (TIFF Canada's 2012 Top 10, Best Documentary Tribeca 2012, Best Canadian Documentary Hot Docs 2012).

She is currently in production with the National Film Board of Canada on the related interactive documentary, Inside Herman's House, as well as producing a new documentary feature, Shadow Girl. Her passion is for film projects which explore issues of inequality and social justice, and which encourage audiences to view their world through a constructively critical and creatively unique lens.
