Anna Maria Tremonti


Anna Maria Tremonti is an award-winning television correspondent who has worked all over the Middle East and Europe, including a number of former Soviet republics. She covered a variety of stories such as the war in Bosnia, the confrontation with the West in Iraq, the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, the handover of land to the Palestinians, the fall of communism, the neo-Nazi movement in Germany, the Georgian revolution and the split-up of Czechoslovakia. Other assignments have also taken her to Iran, Lebanon and Panama. She currently reports for the popular investigative journalism program the fifth estate.

She has several awards to her credit, including two Geminis, for her coverage of the war in Bosnia and the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Her reports from Bosnia earned her the Ron Laidlaw Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association. In 1997, she received 'Outstanding Achievement' honours from Toronto Women in Film and Television.
