After a year
of traveling the world festivals and amassing a shelf-full of awards, and being
rejected by every Canadian festival, the powerful feature-length documentary, Aftermath:
The Remnants of War has been honoured with a Gemini Nomination for the prestigious Donald
Brittain Award for Best Social/Political Documentary.
The
multi-talented trio of Canadian filmmakers - Ed Barreveld, Michael Kot and Daniel Sekulich - make up the team of Storyline
Entertainment, who along with the National Film Board, co-produced the
mesmerizing doc.
Filmed on
location in Russia, Vietnam, Bosnia and France, Aftermath follows the true
stories of people who continue to work under hazardous conditions to clean up
their countries after war, and reveals not only the human suffering caused by
the lingering repercussions of toxic chemicals and unexploded artillery, but
also that war never really ends.
Directed by
Sekulich, Aftermath: The Remnants of War is based on the Gelber Prize winning
book of the same title.
